Run the Caldera

Run the Caldera are races in the spectacular Valles Caldera National Preserve. The first races were in 2006 and featured 5-mile, 10-mile, and marathon distance races. In 2007, one race of marathon distance was held. The runs start at the Blanco Bonito staging area, mile 30 on NM State Route 4 near la Cueva. Runs are on entirely on dirt logging roads. Starting elevation is approximately 8200 ft. High elevation on the marathon route is approximately 9500 ft.
